Trump closed the White House comment line so people are calling his hotels

The White House has, in recent history, offered up a line of communication to the public in the form of a phone line where citizens can call and leave comments for the President. Staffers screen these comments, categorize them, and decide what to pass along.

Apparently, not anymore.

Since entering office, Donald Trump has yet to re-open the comments line, which was shut down during the transition process according to ThinkProgress. Now, callers are greeted with a recording that instructs them to instead Facebook message the White House-- a feature that doesn't exist, or, leave comments in the online web form.

People, um, didn't like that. So they're calling his hotels instead.

White House Inc. is a project by Revolution Messaging, the same company that handled the digital side of Bernie Sanders' campaign. Users anonymously submit their phone number, and White House Inc. connects them to one of Trump's hotels worldwide.

They claim that, "by not divesting himself from his businesses, he’s actually creating satellite White Houses all over the world."

Even though it's going to be service workers dealing with the direct repercussions of the project, users hope that by calling in large numbers, it will send a message to Trump: you said you would listen to all the people, so listen.
