At least 1,000 more buses ask to park for Women's March than Trump's inauguration

It looks like the march against Donald Trump could outshine his inauguration.

Well, at least in one sense -- at least 1,200 permit requests to park tour buses have been received by Washington, D.C., officials for the day after the inauguration, when the Women's March will take place. Meanwhile, just 200 permits were requested for the actual day of the presidential inauguration, D.C. Councilmember Charles Allen said according to the Washington Post.

Inauguration Day will see performances by acts such as 16-year-old America’s Got Talent contestant Jackie Evancho and a Bruce Springsteen tribute band.

As for the Women's March, on the group's Facebook page, over 185,000 people have said they plan to attend.

National organizations and celebrities like Amy Schumer and Zendaya plan to be there, according to CBS News.

Even one congressmen who would normally be attending the president's inauguration is choosing to march the next day instead. Rep. Luis Gutierrez, a Democrat from Illinois, explained in a passionate speech that he just couldn't support Trump's treatment of minorities or women. And he said his opposition is definitely not just because Trump is a Republican.

"This is different," he said before fellow lawmakers. "I knew that George W. Bush and I would disagree on many issues ... But I never thought that George Bush was trying to make my own country hostile to me, personally, to my wife, my daughters, to my grandson."

He said that's why he's marching alongside his wife in the Women's March.

And it looks like a lot of people will be joining them.
