Kanye West's 'Ye Vs. The People' has everyone losing their minds     DATE: 2024-05-25 07:46:08

Oh, did you think Kanye West was done grabbing attention for the week? Pfffttt.

Following the release of his new song "Lift Yourself," which may or may not have just been one big troll on poop-scooping, Kanye dropped "Ye Vs. The People." The track features rapper T.I., with the two trading verses as they discuss a more serious matter: Yeezy's unhinged tweets in support of Donald Trump.

Kanye split the internet in half earlier this week after reiterating his love for Trump. In typical Kanye-does-Kanye style, he called the president "my brother" and slammed haters for not being "free thinkers" who stay true to their own independent thoughts.

Naturally, everyone had an opinion, including John Legend who pleaded with Yeezy to not align himself with Trump's hateful and harmful policies.

Kanye's been defending himself on Twitter all week, and "Ye Vs. The People," available for streaming on Apple Music and Tidal (you can preview it below), is seemingly his latest attempt to do so.

"It's some shit you just don't align with and don't go against," T.I. raps. "You just readin' the headlines, you don't see the fine print."

To which, Kanye replies: "You on some choosin'-side shit, I'm on some unified shit" and then later continues to call out his own greatness:

I mean, that hat stayed in my closet like 'bout a year and a halfThen one day I was like, "Fuck it, I'ma do meI was in the sunken place and then I found the new meNot worried about some image that I gotta keep upLot of people agree with me, but they too scared to speak up

The song ends with both rappers agreeing to disagree. "We could be rappin' about this all day, man, why don't we just cut the beat off and let the people talk?"

And, you better believe the people are talking. Here's a sampling of Twitter reactions:
