Delightful woman in her 60s has the best time on her first flight     DATE: 2024-05-29 14:08:37

Traveling on an airplane is always an extraordinary experience, but nothing beats the excitement and terror of flying for the first time.

Even if you were too young to remember your first plane trip, you've probably flown multiple times since, so you're at least familiar with the process, right? Well that was not the case for Sue, a woman in her 60s, who just had her first ever experience on an airplane on Monday.

Captivated by Sue's genuine excitement upon boarding the plane, her seatmate, Elaine Filadelfo, decided to live tweet the first time flying experience to keep others informed of her amazing reactions.

On Monday, Filadelfo got settled on the plane for a short flight from Los Angeles to San Francisco, California. After chatting with her seatmate, she discovered that the woman beside her was taking her first flight everto surprise her daughter who had recently moved.

From the looks of the live tweets, it appears as though the airline, Virgin America, was just as enchanted by Sue's tale as she was. Filadelfo explained to her Twitter followers that the airline upgraded Sue's ticket, the pilot and crew came to greet her personally and drop some helpful tips and they even took photographs to document the exciting day.

In spite of the fact that the flight was delayed two hours (an unsurprising reality for frequent flyers) Filadelfo said Sue was overjoyed to be traveling, but caught a classic case of the jitters before take-off. It's okay, Sue ... we've all been there.

Filadelfo explained that after hearing a thud as the plane pulled away from the gate, she noticed Sue clutching her armrest in fear.

Being the understanding and compassionate seatmate that she is, Filadelfo came to the rescue and offered Sue her hand to squeeze, as one does in extremely stressful situations. Luckily, she snapped a picture of the touching and historical moment for us to enjoy and for Sue to look back on to calm her nerves on her flight back home.

Once Sue was airborne her fears seemed to fly away and she embraced her first flight to the fullest. Like an excited child, she gazed out the window, adorably waved down to the ground below her and admired the beautiful clouds like she was noticing them for the first time.

Though she was thrilled to be on her first airplane trip, Sue unfortunately had to endure her first encounter with dreaded turbulence. Filadelfo shared that the two faced the frightening experience together, and that comforting Sue actually helped her deal with her own turbulence fears.

In the end, Sue's plane landed safe and sound, and like a true champ, she exclaimed, "That's it? ... That was fast!" Filadelfo shared that Sue was eager to get off the plane and assure her daughter, who has also never flown before, that there's absolutely nothing to worry about.

Here's hoping Sue will continue her adventurous travels and that everyone has a seatmate this understanding on their next flight.
