Meta makes Oculus VR fitness data available in Apple Health

2024-05-21 03:24:56      点击:546

Meta and Apple are playing nice with each other, and that means you can access your Oculus Quest VR workout stats directly on an iOS device.

Meta announced two new updates to Oculus Move, its built-in fitness tracking app on the Quest VR headset, that are set to roll out next month. The updates include a new Oculus Move mobile app for iOS and Android, where workout data like calories burned and minutes spent exercising in VR can be seen on your phone. Previously, this data could only be accessed in the Oculus Move app on the headset.

The update also allows Apple users to directly sync Oculus Move data with the Apple Health app, eliminating the need to manually input VR workout stats if desired. This comes right as rumors continue to circulate about Apple's own mixed-reality headset, which is whispered to debut later this year and would presumably let you synch similar stats with its existing ecosystem.

The integration move will hopefully make fitness tracking more centralized for Apple and Android users alike, although the direct link with Apple's Health app seems a lot more useful than the separate app for only Oculus Move stats. Meta makes no specific mention of any plans to sync data with Google Fit or Samsung Health at this time, but does plan to continue "exploring integrations with additional fitness tracking platforms for the future."
