The demonstrators' feelings were heard loud and clear at the nation's capitol. Some sang "America the Beautiful" at one point, while the White House was blocked off throughout the event.

Oscar Soria, an activist and spokesperson for Avaaz, who organized the protest, told Mashableit was a stand against Trump. "Basically we believe America would be better than bigotry and that the future favors hope," he said. "We are against the bigotry and racism of Donald Trump."

As the vote results trickled in throughout election night, Trump was shown to be a political force to be reckoned with. On Twitter, a lot of Americans were worried and disappointed, expressing the same sentiment as the White House protestors.
