Though President Donald Trump loves to publicly bash the "failing" New York Times, the publication is attracting a YUGE number of subscribers.

On Tuesday, The New York Times Company announced its first-quarter results for 2017, revealing an impressive number of digital news subscriptions for the start of the year -- it added a whopping 308,000.

"These results show the current strength and future potential of our digital strategy not just to reach a large audience, but also to deliver substantial revenue," Mark Thompson, president and chief executive officer of The New York Times Company, said in a press release, adding the Q1 number marks the "single best quarter for subscriber growth" in the company's history.

Not too shabby for a failing company.

President Trump has a public hate-hate relationship with the New York Times, tweeting on several occasions the publication was inaccurate in its reporting and a failure. (Behind the scenes, however, he has a close relationship with and apparent respect for Timesreporter Maggie Haberman. POTUS knows where his bread is buttered.)

Let's take a trip to the Twitter archives to refresh everyone's memory:

Welp, Trump. What do you have to say about those failingrecord-breaking subscriptions?
